After many years of frustration as a close observer of our deteriorating health care system, in 2004 Mr. Larchuk decided to take action.  He qualified for the ballot as an independent candidate for Congress representing the Pennsylvania 4th Congressional District, put his legal practice on hold, and hit the campaign trail.  Essentially self funded, and declining to comment upon any political issues other than health care reform, Mr. Larchuk was able to use the media time he was given to speak to issues of the uninsured, out of control health care inflation and our dysfunctional medical malpractice system.

As a candidate Mr. Larchuk was able to promote specific reforms and legislation to address the many different parts of the health care crisis.  These ideas eventually found their way into proposed legislation, primarily authored by Mr. Larchuk, and now pending in the Pennsylvania General Assembly as the “Family and Business Health Care Security Act” (SB300).  Details regarding this bill are available at www.helpfundpa.org.

Mr. Larchuk is a frequent speaker on health care reform and has been an invited presenter in New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie, Harrisburg, Allentown, and many smaller communities.  He has also been appointed to Congressman Altmire's health care advisory panel.
